The Complete Guide to Indian Wedding Photo Collection in 2026

From mehendi to reception — a complete playbook for collecting and organising every photo from every function at your Indian wedding.

Indian Weddings Are Multi-Day Events

A typical Indian wedding has 4–7 functions: haldi, mehendi, sangeet, baraat, wedding ceremony, reception — sometimes spread across 3 days. That's 3 days of moments you want captured.

Hiring photographers for every function is expensive (₹5,000–₹20,000 per event). But guests are there for all of them. This guide shows you how to systematically collect photos from every function.

Create One Event Per Function

Don't use a single gallery for the entire wedding. Create separate events: - 🌿 Haldi Ceremony — March 14 - 🎨 Mehendi Night — March 15 - 🎵 Sangeet — March 15 - 🐴 Baraat & Ceremony — March 16 - 🥂 Reception — March 16

This keeps photos organised by function and lets you download each separately. You'll know exactly which 400 photos are from the sangeet.

QR Code Placement by Function

Mehendi: Small QR cards near where the mehendi artist is seated. Guests watch for hours — easy to scan and upload.

Sangeet: QR on the stage backdrop and at dinner tables. Dance floor energy = more candid shots than any other function.

Baraat: QR on the dhol players or printed on the baraat invitation. Capture the procession from 50 angles.

Reception: Table cards are standard. Also add a large print near the photo booth.

Managing the Gallery Afterwards

After the wedding: 1. Download each function's gallery as a ZIP 2. Keep files organised by function name 3. Share gallery links with family (they can view without downloading everything) 4. Order prints from your favourites

Pro Tips for Maximum Coverage

WhatsApp the event link the morning of each function. "Hey everyone! Share your photos from today's mehendi here: [link]" sent to the family group before the event starts gets 2× more uploads.

Designate photo champions. Ask 2–3 enthusiastic family members to actively remind people to upload.

Keep galleries open for 7 days. Some of the best photos come from guests who take time to edit before uploading.

Enable PIN protection for private functions. Haldi photos might not be something you want uploaded publicly — set a PIN so only family can contribute.
